data doesn’t have to be dull …

… it’s all in the delivery.

Most data presentations overwhelm audiences with numbers and expect them to care. Mine don't.

I tell stories. I make data human. And I leave your people feeling capable of engaging with numbers—not intimidated by them.

Whether you're looking for a conference keynote, a team offsite presentation, or a system-wide event, I tailor content to your audience and their needs.

  • This keynote explores the context of data in our current landscape, and the importance of everyone knowing the numbers and being able to engage in data conversations. Selena unpacks the three key elements of the effective use of data: data literacy, data visualisation, and data storytelling, then talks about ways we build skill in people who don't feel that using numbers is in their wheelhouse. The session will also cover some of the key ways that we can best use and communicate numbers to other people, so they can use it to benefit their work and their team.

  • This keynote explores the challenges of building data cultures and provides a road map for building your data culture. Systems and processes are important, but increasing buy-in and genuine belief in the power of data is sometimes more challenging. In this keynote, Selena unpacks her top ways to build a data-informed culture, which teaches leaders how to grow the data literacy and data culture in their team.

  • This keynote helps audiences tell more effective data stories. Our world has moved beyond presentations where audiences are inundated with data, and where they are expected to join the dots and understand what’s important. Effective data stories are deliberately curated, punchy, have a point, and inspire action. During this session, Selena teaches the audience how to harness the power of data storytelling and design thinking, so they can construct brilliant data stories that inspire others and lead to action.

  • This keynote explores how building impact literacy - the ability to design, measure, and recognise your impact - creates both a competitive and cultural advantage. Participants will be introduced to Selena's 3i Impact Model*, which maps impact across three dimensions: interval (short-term to long-term), implication (negative to positive), and intentionality (intentional versus unintentional). The model, including the idea of second and third-order consequences, helps make impact visible, and build organisational cultures that can speak to impact, rather than just the actions taken.

"Selena has an ability to establish the true meaning behind the volumes of data our technology teams love to collate and distribute. Understanding what is important, as well as where and how true value can be determined, Selena is able to show us how to deliver this message, in a way that energises staff and encourages our organisation to excel."
